In a couple of weeks, I will be hosting a baby shower for my sweet sister-in-law, Jenny. I am so excited and have been collecting my thoughts and ideas for months. See, Jenny is having a little baby girl. Now as a mom to 4 boys, I need some baby girl goodness in my life. Yesterday, I read Lula's post about her Sweet Caroline and I got even more excited, because you see, my new niece will also be named Caroline (Rose). I love how Lula in true southern style incorporated a family sir name as her baby girl's middle name - go read all about it, k?
Any hoo, I have decided on a French theme with black and white and baby pink as the color scheme and matching fancy french food to boot. But the one hitch in my giddy-up is shower games. So who better to turn to than the wealth of blog knowledge out there. I love parties, but I loathe silly party games - I know that sounds like a party pooper, but I just don't like them. I have thrown a lot of parties in my day and seen a myraid of party games, but no ideas I really like. So ladies, gimme some!! Puh-leez, because I already bought the most adorable game prizes!

I want to be at this shower--it sounds FABULOUS! Loving the color scheme. And I love your niece's name...it's gorgeous!
I truly am no good with the shower games. Google some...that might be your best bet.
Now you have to do a whole post abou the shower--PLEASE--'cause I just have to see it.
Oh you are going to have a beautiful shower and what a fabulous baby name. Shower games are my weakness too.... I am not a game person but I would love to come help you decorate for the baby shower. Thanks for visiting my blog.
Blech, I dislike shower games. I suppose they can be fun (and some aren't bad), but I don't like forced merriment.
The name Caroline is sure getting around! I have a friend who will be naming her daughter, to be born in a few months, Caroline.
Your decor sounds gorgeous! And I am so not one for games. But since you bought prizes...
Ummm...I suppose it depends on the crowd...
But what about a match the baby contest? Have baby pictures of the immediate family and they have to match with the correct person. Or if you have a pop culture crowd, you could do the same with celebrities.
Or even on the celebrity thing - you could do a match the strange baby name to the correct celebrity. OR what is not the baby name? Like Gwyneth and Chris did not name their baby what? a. Moses. b. Kumquat c. Jedidah d. Apple? :-)
thinking out loud. Doesn't always work...
I have hosted a couple of baby showers.
One thing that has been a hit is instead of party games (or as well as) was painting singlets.
I bought enough in different sizes for all the guests & they all could decorate a singlet (maybe in the US you guys call them vests?)
This was a lot of fun!
Games: baby food tasting, guessing the expectant mum's bump size with lengths of toilet paper, Memory game with baby stuff, match up the animal with the name of the animals baby (eg. cow - calf), bingo, and the list can go on.
In my experience one or two games is usually more than enough :)
I just love baby shower games. There are many websites out there that offer many different kinds. They will give you all kinds of ideas one of my favorites for baby shower games is BadaBadaBaby.com.
