Vote for Pedro, We Did!

With this political naughtiness going on, I thought we could lighten up the issue of voting a little. We promised Little Chief a pet when he started kindergarten. Well, this year he started 2nd grade, and still no pet. He will not let us forget that we still have not made good on that promise, trust me, he gives us daily reminders.

So when a classmate was giving away free kittens last week, Little Chief, could barely keep himself from exploding off the school bus after school. He came rushing off the bus with visions of kitty cats in his head. I promised we would go look at the kittys when Chief got home from work. Of course, Chief, pretended to have amnesia when reminded of his promise to procure a pet for our Sweet Angel Baby Boy. But finally we wore him down and he said we would look only with no promise to actually bring one home - of course, I knew that the kitty was a done deal at that point, because how is Daddy going to say no to that begging, pleading, face. Oh, and promises were flying like geese for the winter. LC promised that Daddy and Mommy would never even have to worry about food or water or cleaning the litter box, why we wouldn't even know the kitty was there.

Well, we arrived at the Cat House and there were kittys everywhere, big, little and tweeners too. The lady had a son fittingly named "Bam-Bam" who was nothing short of torturing those cats. His Mamma proceeded to tell us that Bam-Bam had an accident with one of the kittens and let's just say it involved a recliner - LC was horrified and we can't even mention the word recliner around here anymore for fear of another round of upset. So needless to say, we felt it was our duty to give one of those precious felines a warm, fuzzy, home. So we voted on which one, loaded him up and saved him from any further Bam-Bam abuse.

So meet Pedro, Pedro Rodriguez or P-Rod for short. He is precious and fluffy and smart and he sure made one little boy and a couple of grown folks real happy. Cheif pretended not to like him a first, but he was the one bathing him and guess who follows Chief around like a little puppy on a string? Yep, you guessed it, this cute little fella.

Hey Kimmy! I've had another request for the bronze paint color. I'll have to get it off the paint can b/c I think my friend custom mixed it from something she came up with. If I don't get back with you in a few days, please e-mail me at jdy277@aol.com to remind me!

Hi, over from SITS. Thats a pretty kitten, I am glad you saved him. Lucky I was not there, I would want to save them all.

I am super jealous! I live in a condo and we can't have pets. I look forward to the day that we have a dog of our own. (And a cat, but my husband doesn't know that one yet. Shh...) Congrats on your day in the sunshine on SITS!

Bathing the cat? You have my sympathy. I did that once. The scars have healed now ;-)

awww....look at him with his little kitty! how precious! P-Rod is a cutie!

Has Pedro forgiven Big Chief for giving him a bath yet? He's SUPER cute too!

There is nothing like a cute kitty as a photo accessory for a cute kid!

Why on earth was your husband bathing the cat, though? That is something that I've only ever done in an emergency situation (say, because a small child drizzled a squeeze bottle of honey on the cat's fur or it got sprayed by a skunk or some such dire thing.............)

Cheers!

Awww. What an adorable kitten! I am sure now he is much bigger. Is Little Chief still crazy about the kitten? Pets are so great for kids...even if the kids ignore them every once in a while!

I love kittens. The problem is, they grown into cats and I'm not so fond of cats.

Why can't they be little forever?

I hope that little kitten grows into a big cat that likes baths...honestly, that is like trying to...well...I can't think of anything that compares to bathing a full grown cat.

How did I miss this post? Oh, yeah, I am a doofus. What a cute kitty. My mother got the girls two kittens. They are such freakin' hooligans. Except right now while they are both sleeping. They are rather cute. Kitty snores are adorable. But when they are awake and destroying my house...not so much.

What a cute little addition to the family.

Oh, how sweet, and what a neme to grow into! How fun (I came from Sits btw)

Wow. It sounds like the kitten I rescued from a barn when I was in fifth grade where others were taking the kittens and throwing them against hay bales to see if they'd stick. Yuck!

Oh and ummm you know that cats, especially kittens, tend to do better in pairs than by themselves, right? ;) And I have to ask... why the bath?

Very sweet kitty! Great photos, too!

Happy SITS day!

Awww...cute kitten! Don't you know promising a kid a pet is like signing your life away. haha It's like there's 3 things for certain in life, taxes, death, and getting a kid a pet if you promised. haha

Kittens might be the cutest things ever in the world. Besides Boxer puppies. He is adorable!

I love me some kitties! We picked up a pair of baby kitties last year, plus we have a 15 year old monster that we adore. A neighbor is moving and just offered us his two very cool cats that we like a lot, so we may soon be a FIVE cat family - yikes!

He totally looks like our first kitten who died young but is a legend in these parts.

Who is your Angel Baby? I gave birth to a stillborn baby boy last year and am wondering if you have someone similar in your hearts...

My big kitty Bam Bam was horrified that another Bam Bam would be cruel to cats. I'd stay away from him, it starts with animals and ends with...I can't even type it.

About a year ago I got sucked into the cute little thing and the begging child scenario and ended up with a four pound ball of fluff, named Charly. Promises to love feed and clean up after long since forgotten. It helps a little that he loves me best, but what do you expect when I am the one with him all day taking care of him?

Blissful Babe said...

Oh my word! He is so stinkin' cute!!!
I'm a sucker for a kitten any day, having two of my own!

Melissa Lester said...

How sweet! We are talking about getting a cat. Hubby and I are not so sure we want the added responsibility yet, but the children all want a pet. So we may be adding to our household soon, too.

Oh he is so adorable. We went to look at two little kittens and I knew we'd be bringing them home when they curled up in my husband's lap and fell asleep. They're over a year old now.

P-Rod, that's awesome! So has Little Chief kept up all those promises? :)

Congrats on your new pet! LC looks totally in love with the little guy. I'm dying for a cat, but my sister is deathly allergic, and her being able to visit is more important than a snuggly kitty. Can I live vicariously through you?
